🍺 Our favorite BAR in Ipoh is:
- Durbar’s at FMS. This bar was founded by Hainese immigrants in 1906, and it known to be the oldest bar in Ipoh. It used to be a very popular spot for the tin miners in the early 1900s.
➡️ Tip #2: TOUR THE CITY
There is so much to learn about the history of Malaysia, and Ipoh offers a unique take on its Chinese Malay roots. We loved taking a self tour of all the historical sites around the city.
➡️ Tip #3: Visit Sam Po Tong temple.
It was one of our favorite temples to date. The history behind its existence is fascinating. Set aside a good chunk of time when you visit. You'll want to take the time to marvel at how stunning this temple is.
➡️ Tip #4: Visit Kellie's Castle.
This is a tip that most locals will give us, because so many tourists over look it! Again, for all of our history buffs, this is a must. Where else can you find a Scottish castle nestled in the middle of the rainforest?
➡️ Tip #5: VISIT the Lost World of Tambun Hot Springs Night Park
Ipoh was one of our favorite cities in Malaysia, and it’s reputation of having some of the best food (in our opinion) on the PLANET precedes itself. We can’t wait to come back and visit.

A couple of my friends and I took a short trip to visit Ipoh. Ipoh is known for her food! And here are a few MUST-GO places when you visit the beautiful city of Ipoh!
1. 362Heong Peah
If Gunung Rapat is famous for anything, it has to be Heong Peah (Heong Peng) – literally translated to fragrant biscuits. These round and flaky pastries are filled with a sweet and chewy malt filling, great as breakfast as well as anytime snacking.
2. Tambun Pomelo Gochin Argo Farm
GoChin Pomelo Farm is the best and the only farm you can visit the pomelo and other fruits trees in Tambun. The oldest tree is almost 50 years old, and the stall was opened more than 20 years. The entrance is free, allow you to walk along the walking tracks knowing the local fruits and taking photos with the pomelos hanging on the tree. You may get the originally Tambun Pomelo and local fruits at here too!
3. Restoran Tuck Kee
The Moonlight Hor Fun is stir fried in savory- sweet dark soy sauce to add smokiness and distinctive “wok-hei” to the otherwise bland rice noodles, before adding in lard, pork slices and vegetables. Very shiok!
4. Ming Court Hong Kong Dim Sum
Stepping into Ming Court is like a scene from a Hong Kong drama coming to life: the early morning hustle, old-school tables, chairs and mosaic floor tiles, table-sharing with strangers and service crew weaving through the crowd with trays of dim sums in a cha chaan teng.
5. Funny Mountain Soya Bean
Their soy beans are imported from Canada and USA and the beancurd and soy milk are freshly prepared manually daily!
In my opinion, probably the top 5 places to eat when you’re in Ipoh! :) .

For nearly nine decades, the Antong Coffee Mill in Malaysia, has been making coffee in a traditional way, mixing sugar into coffee beans in an ageing machine heated by a crackling fire. The mill, which produces wood-roasted Nanyang style coffee known as “Kopi O” (coffee without milk) as well as Malaysian white coffee, started operations in the northwestern town of Taiping in 1933.
