We visited another popular Malaysian city during our Post Lockdown adventure! Here are our top tips for what to do when visiting Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. ➡️ Tip #1: BE HUNGRY Ipoh is known for having some of the best food in the country. Skip past every western cafe, coffee shop, and restaurant, and head straight to the Kopitiams. Here you will find the best food, the best drink, and the best prices in Ipoh. Travel tip: If you're surrounded by locals, you know you're doing something right. 🍜 Some of our favorite Kopitiams in Ipoh are: - Nam Heong - Sin Yoon Loong - Kedai Kopi Kin Kok. (Our favorite meal here is the CURRY MEE. Get it, thank us later). 🍺 Our favorite BAR in Ipoh is: - Durbar’s at FMS. This bar was founded by Hainese immigrants in 1906, and it known to be the oldest bar in Ipoh. It used to be a very popular spot for the tin miners in the early 1900s. ➡️ Tip #2: TOUR THE CITY There is so much to learn about the history of Malaysia, and Ipoh offers a unique take on its Chinese Malay roots. We loved taking a self tour of all the historical sites around the city. ➡️ Tip #3: Visit Sam Po Tong temple. It was one of our favorite temples to date. The history behind its existence is fascinating. Set aside a good chunk of time when you visit. You'll want to take the time to marvel at how stunning this temple is. ➡️ Tip #4: Visit Kellie's Castle. This is a tip that most locals will give us, because so many tourists over look it! Again, for all of our history buffs, this is a must. Where else can you find a Scottish castle nestled in the middle of the rainforest? ➡️ Tip #5: VISIT the Lost World of Tambun Hot Springs Night Park Ipoh was one of our favorite cities in Malaysia, and it’s reputation of having some of the best food (in our opinion) on the PLANET precedes itself.
